We made re-arranging your page even easier.

Huddled in the back room while observing a focus group of My Yahoo! users last year, we were a little surprised to hear that their most-requested feature was “drag-and-drop.”

“We have that now!” we said to each other — our mouths full of M&Ms. Now that we know how much you care about this feature, we started working on ways to make it even better (not to mention, ways to let you know we have it).

In the My Yahoo! Beta, you may have noticed a few (if subtle) improvements. Now you have more freedom to move modules where you want them (no more Narrow/Wide column limitations). There are also indicators to let you know when you’re in “drag-and-drop” mode (four way arrow), and where you’re about to place a module (a blue bar in most page colors).

So go ahead. Move things around. Then move them again…

Colleen from the My Yahoo! team here. We plan to roll out the new My Yahoo! to all of the product’s markets over time. For the initial beta launch, we’ve started with Spain (launched last week) and will add other countries in the coming months.

Couple of thoughts:

1) I’ve been using the beta for several months now, and the user interface improvements are good, but I’d really like to see you make the column widths totally user programmable/adjustable. my.msn allows people to make the most of their “screen real estate”. Right now, to get bookmarks to work the way I want, I have to go with 2-columns, which wastes a lot of screen space.

2) I’m still not happy with the say the bookmark module works. In everyting but 2-column mode, it covers up content modules. When you actually make it a content module, it isn’t nearly as condensed as the expanding/contracting version and takes up too much space. Adjustable column widths as mentioned in #1 would go a long way towards fixing this.

3) Your RSS feed options are a very nice enhancment. Easy to use and more reliable than MSN’s. In fact, the reliability of your RSS feed performance is one of the main reasons I use my.yahoo rather than my.msn.

1. Beta needs work. I can only see two hours of TV listings. Since Prime Time is three hours I want to see three hours of listings.
2. TV listings default to current date\time. I want to be able to set a default so I always see prime time. And central time zone prime time starts at 7 p.m. it currently defaults to 8 p.m.
3. There is no Movie Times module or whatever it’s called that displays my local moview theatres and what’s playing.
4. Weather module takes up way too much vertical space.

There is blaring Advertising on this page, Something i’d rather not see. It’s even in the premium yahoo. Why?

Why did you delete the comics section? I need humor to start the day. I like the Beta format, but I’ll switch back to the old format if you cannot give me access to the same group of comics:
Doonesbury
BC
Dilbert
Wizard of Id
Bloom County
…and more

PLEASE add yesterday’s scores to the Scoreboard on the My Yahoo BETA. Yesterdays results used to be shown in the old My Yahoo, and what I used most was the scores of last nights games.

Yes I can move things around, but I can’t resize? I want to make the column width smaller…

I like the new beta version, but the drag and drop for content seems to have a bug. It may be some sort of memory problem as it worked initially, but with the addition of many more modules, I am unable to move them to another location. Is there a limit on the number of RSS feeds allowed?
