Have you ever added a module and said, “This is so cool.”?

You aren’t alone. One of the fun things about working on My Yahoo! is that we get to hear it and say it a lot. We thought we’d pass along two of our favorites…

craigslist Search
Never again will you miss out on a hot Craigslist item. Track that beach rental on your page. It will refresh throughout the day so you don’t miss a thing. To try this from a craigslist results page, click the RSS link at the bottom of the page. Copy the URL from the address bar, and paste it into My Yahoo! (Personalize this page > Add RSS feed > Add).

flickr Photos
Enjoy great photo streams on your page. We especially like Interesting Images and Flickr’s 100 Best. From the “Personalize this page” menu, click “add modules” and then type “flickr” in the search box.

That’s a few to get you started. We’ll be back with more.

I’m not a fan of the big ad block in the upper right corner of the new page. Any way to get rid of that?

I am glad that Yahoo! has made Web2.0 capabilities for its users to exploit!

I like the modular style of adding content. I can remove and add modules anytime!

Thanks!

gotta agree with poster #1. big ad block is a deal breaker for me. sooooo tacky

maybe the new PM of Monetization can figure out a better way to drive revenue without alienating users.

I like the new Beta, but it would be great if Yahoo provided info (SDK) on how to create your own module. Maybe this is possible, but it’s very noticable. Content is kning and if you have more people creating content/modules, then you’ll beat your competitors.

Some modules/improvements I’d like to see:
– Yahoo Maps
– Word of the Day (where you can choose your level: i.e. grammar school to SATs)
– Yahoo Beta Bookmarks (where you can view bookmarks by their tags w/in the module – iGoogle does this for their bookmarks.)
– Google Calendar – (sorry, Google has you beat in this area IMHO)
– My Yahoo Notepad
– Today’s Dilbert Cartoon
– My Blockbuster
– The New Mail icon should be easier to see – I miss the old way it highlighted the new mail
– To view an item within the “Personal Assistant”, you mosueover it and the content expands, but if you mouseaway from this section (i.e. when you you need to scroll down to view more of the content), the “Personal Assistant” minimizes the content. This is highly frustrating.
– Some of the sample images of the RSS modules are way too small. Would be nice if this was configurable so you can see bigger images.

you can be rid of all ads on any page with “ad block plus” this may be a firefox add on, but firefox is much better than internet explorer.
