Of course, the World Series blog post falls to me. Among the team, I seem to be the only one who knows that the World Series starts this week. The Rockies play the Red Sox in what should be a good series. Am I excited? Yes. Can I share my excitement with anyone else here? No. And so I’ll share with you…
I’ve been a baseball fan my whole life. My team is the Giants and I follow them with something bordering on obsession. I think of the 2002 World Series almost every day. The Giants entered the seventh inning of game six leading the Angels 5-0, and they had a 3-2 series lead. They lost that game and the series, and still haven’t won a World Series since moving to California. One of my earliest memories is going to Candlestick Park with my dad and sitting just off first base, and being transfixed by Willie McCovey (my all-time favorite player). It’s like it was yesterday. I go to Spring Training and act like the games count. Enough said…
So of course I use My Yahoo! to follow the Giants and baseball in general. During the season, I check results and schedules using the Scoreboard module. But mostly, I use My! to aggregate baseball content from across the Web. I’ve picked my favorite sources (Yahoo! Sports, ESPN, and MLB.com) and feeds and have them scattered across my page so that I can check them in the morning and throughout the day.
To track the series, I’ve even added Red Sox and Rockies team modules to my page, and my Giants modules are, temporarily, near the bottom (and yes, that feels strange).
I hope you enjoy the series! And I hope your team wins! Because if they don’t and you’re like me, it will be a very, very long winter…
