Improved: Personal Assistant.

A few weeks ago, we told you about the Personal Assistant. You asked for more options and we have them ready for you.

• Want to see movie showtimes at your favorite theater? We added Movies.
• Looking for quick access to your Bookmarks? That’s an option too.

Oh, and we included Scoreboard and Inside My Yahoo! too. Check ‘em out.

Love it! It cuts down on some of the space on my page. I don’t like my page to look like it’s overflowing, and thanks to the PA my page is just how I like it. The PA is simple, easy to use, and I’m all for it. Yeah for Yahoo PA!!

TV schedule for me in wisconsin, needs to provide broader control. I get stations on my tv from both milwaukee & green bay. Reception varies seasonally & I never know which station I will get. I would like to see a tv schedule that includes all local broadcast channels not just the ones in my zip code!

I want to be able to move the PA to the other side of the page.

I would like to see yahoo notepad an option on the personal assistant in a similar format to the calender. Is that a possibility?

  5. Thanks I need all the help I can get.

  6. Donald says:

Notepad would be very nice there on the personal assistant. Using a similar format like the calendar as someone said is not a bad idea. I also like “movies” there if I could get them to come up with out asking for me to reenter “my theaters” all the time…smiles. It does not work often. I do like the idea of the personal assistant though. It does save allot of space on your page.

  7. Deb says:

You can move PA to the other side of the page by going to personalize this page, and change the layout. Hope that helps

Very impressed with ALL the changes made by Yahoo. Most impressed with the change made to my wife. She has always avoided home pages and commented that they felt like they attacked her with their format and restricted content (determined by the site, such as the Windows Live page), but has now taken to spending a good amount of time with the My Yahoo page, playing with the various adjustments to content and appearance. Such a subtle thing to remove the last block of ‘computer fear’ from her will make her continued internet experiences enjoyable. That means, my life will be enjoyable too! Thanks

If you had a little place where we could right down things in MY YAHOO page it would be cool and useful. Like a notepad with option of different colors.

  10. Nancy says:

Sorry, I don’t like Personal Assistant. I could tolerate it if it had only 3 buttons, but you don’t offer 4 topics that interest me. I also dislike the new calendar. Please the month & NO events. Please no pictures, either. Minimalism – that’s for me.

  11. [...] Sure, Search may have gotten most of the attention, but it’s not the only assist going on. Turns out that the fine folks at My also have been busy adding improvements to movies and the other personal assist modules. [...]

Looks nice. Any reasons why the Bokmarks would always fail to be fetch at my Yahoo ?
“We are sorry, your bookmarks are currently unavailable. Please go to Yahoo! Bookmarks”

I’ve had the chance to see my bookmarks at my yahoo ever since the beta was launched…

  13. Arron says:

I didnt want the yahoo toolbar installed. i was hoping i could do the same without it. i got so fed up reading the help, i just decided to not bother. so now i’m enjoying Tv :)

The new My is nice! I like the new look, not so drab and boring anymore. Like MSN! Ha! Keep up the great work yahoo!

I hate the new My Yahoo! Sorry to say that. I’m sure a lot of work has gone into it. Some of my gripes: Print colors and difficult to read. For instance, I use the white background and can barely see the blue headlines for my news feeds. Another one: The format choices supposedly allow you a thick center column with two more narrow side columns. But they’re all actually the same size, not allowing a larger news view in the middle. Terrible. Yet another one: Scoreboard has too many bugs. I keep entering my teams and don’t get the scores. Finally, many of the cool themes from the old My Yahoo are gone. Why? Going back to my first comment, at least I could read the print. I am very disappointed with this beta. Bob Riley

  17. Shay says:

I am trying to like the New My Yahoo, but it just wastes too much space.

The Personal assist is cool, but does not allow enough flexibility, cannot be moved and is too big. We should be able to select from many many links including notepad, TV listings, etc and then just type in the title. It is also too big

The calendar that used to be small and efficient is now huge and wastes valuable space.

The portfolios used to be compact and are now spreadout..

When my old screen came up I could see the message center on the left, the monthly calendar and 2 days of calendar entries. On the right I could see 2 1/2 portfolios. Now I can see the calendar and part of 1 portfolio..

I would like to see you fix the calendar detail on the old My Yahoo page and I would be happy. or allow a smaller personal assist with flexibility and moveability to the old My Yahoo page. That would be perfect.

How do I switch back out of the Beta version? I don’t like it and will probably quit using my.Yahoo as my home page if I can’t restore the original layout. My biggest gripe is the Editor’s Picks section. I don’t want this and want the adverts back on the top where they don’t slow down my web browsing. Thanks.

  19. Alan says:

I don’t like the new looks at all. Yahoo isn’t the same.

  20. Roger says:

I like the new Yahoo, but have two suggestions. When any additional content (bookmarks, personal assistant links, etc) are clicked on it should always open in a new window (or tab). That way the Yahoo home page will still remain open and available for access. Also, it would be nice to be able to add a URL to the Personal Assistant for content no available in the pull-downs.

  21. Frank says:

Yahoo wasn’t my homepage before and now it is. You have my vote!

  22. Rhonda says:

Hmmm, been playing around with the new Yahoo page and like it so far. It seems to me like the personal assistant is taking the place of the sidebar. If that is the case, can lauchcast be a button? Would be nice. Also, LOVE the Halloween theme background. Keep those coming! Finally, some changes to layout do need to be made. None of the current ones suite me. I want to see the background!

  23. Christine says:

I like the new My Yahoo! but I wish I can add songs to the whole page.

  24. Devid Inthee says:

I don’t like the new looks at all. Yahoo isn’t the same.

  25. Zmatt says:

I hate the new MyYahoo. Please arrange it so i can go back to the old MyYahoo, but still allow others to use the new look if they want. Allow uses to choose which one they want to use.

  26. Pam says:

I love this! I love the new page setup. The ease of use and the quick access to information I want is wonderful. Thank you.

  27. tsgeisel says:

I can’t find 6 Personal Assistant modules I care about. Am I doomed to suffer?

  28. MyYahooUser says:

As someone else mentioned in a previous blog entry — since the message center has been replaced by the PA, the PA really should be able to notify users of new messages on Yahoo Personals. I dont understand why users of ‘Facebook’ can add a module to see message status on another service — when Yahoo isn’t even showing message notifications on their own premium services. Please add this functionality into PA — or give us the option to use the Message Center again!

  29. Js says:

I want to move the PA to the left hand side of the page

  30. Ross says:

It’s a great tool. A great alternative to having to load the Yahoo homepage with a bunch of modules that you might not want all the time. When you only want to search, having the modules load can be a time consuming process, so I see this helping Yahoo a lot, especially when one of Google’s strengths is speed and minimilism.
