Let the games begin!

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the 2008 Olympic Games. It’s time to get engrossed in the drama and watch top athletes break world records. In preparation for the games, we’ve created the new Yahoo! Sports 2008 Olympics module. With this module, not only will you be able to view the latest news stories, but you can see the most recent videos and photographs – all in one place. It even includes a real time medal count so you can see the rankings of each country.

Now, you can follow the winners, the losers, and the glory of the 2008 Beijing Olympics! Personally, I will be eagerly watching to see if Michael Phelps wins the 8 gold medals he needs to break the record, or if Liu Xiang can win gold for China. Let the games begin!

Are we going to be able to choose which countries to look at under the medal count, or are they going to go from highest to lowest #s in the list? I added the module (and I know, it’s before the games and all), but mine lists Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, American Samoa, Andorra… good countries all, I’m sure, but they don’t hold the interest to me the same as the US or a select other few… Highest to lowest would be alright, but it would be nice to be able to select the countries we want to see in the list…

    Hi Lori,

You are correct. The countries in the medal count will be listed in order of most medals to least.

The usa is ahead with metal count as far as I know. We are doing really well in swimming.. Especially in mens swimming when Michael Phelps captured his 8th concective gold metal in the free style.
