By popular request, you can now customize the colors for the header, background, and text on your My Yahoo! page. You can find this new feature under the Change Appearance menu on the upper left hand side of the page. Once there, you will see a link to Customize Colors. You’ll see two visual sections like the ones represented below.

By clicking on different areas of the first section you can highlight four different areas of your page to customize. The four areas include the header, sub-header, page background, and content area. Depending which area you select, you can see associated customize options available for that particular section on the right hand side.

A good tip to keep in mind is to choose background and text colors that have good contrast in relation to each other, so that the content remains legible. The best way to see how it works is to give it a try. It’s pretty intuitive once you start using it. At any time, you can change the color back to the original color you started with by clicking the Reset link that is shown next to the I’m Done button.

You can create 9 custom themes of your own. As you create new custom page colors, you can find your colors added to the list of Custom Themes available when you return to the Change Appearance Menu.

This feature is in beta and we’d love to hear your feedback. Go ahead, make your My Yahoo! page as unique as you are.

With all that’s happened in the financial market in the last four weeks, it’s understandable that everyone is anxious about the ups and downs. For those of you who are tracking this historic market activity, here is an additional module you can add to your page. The Market Summary module will give you updates and keep you plugged into daily market activity.

With this module, you’ll also be able to search through US and World Indices, find the “Most Active” stocks, and access the currency converter. When you’re looking for your favorite stocks, you can even search for quotes right from the module.

Purple is big everywhere this season, but here at Yahoo! it’s always been a huge part of our culture. As lovers of Purple, we are excited to be embracing a movement this fall called Start Wearing Purple. Why do we love Purple? We love it because it’s the color of creativity and ingenuity. It represents the spirit of individuality, but also a sense of connectedness with others who are similar.

My Yahoo! is offering you new opportunities to make your My Yahoo! page purple. Get your Purple on by going to the Change Appearance menu and then clicking on “Passions” to pick out one of the new spirited purple backgrounds we have to offer. You can also add our Flickr: Bike Adventures module to stay on top of what our purple Flickr bikes are seeing on their daily rides. These solar-powered, GPS-enabled bikes take a photo every 60 seconds to chronicle life in real time. They’re very cool and very Purple.

We’re encouraging you to think Purple and live life with an exclamation point. This means doing things exactly the way you want to, following your passions, and making your dreams a reality. So come along for the ride, Start Wearing Purple with My Yahoo!.
