The other day Yahoo! TV had an interesting feature (http://tv.yahoo.com/slideshow/650/photos/1) on “shows that have jumped the shark,” or made a nose dive into mediocrity or worse. (The “shark” reference comes from a “Happy Days” episode where the Fonz attempted an Evel Knievel-style jump over a shark.) At the top of the list of about a dozen shows was “Glee.”
Your reaction may have been like mine: “Say whaaaaat?!” I’ll grant that “Glee” has made many mishaps recently, but I wouldn’t say the show has pushed past its expiration date. You might have a similar reaction about “The Mentalist” or “Burn Notice.”
No TV viewers have the same taste, of course, but I’m sure there are plenty of readers who disagreed with the dismissals in that article.
So, for fans of some of these “shows in decline,” I thought I’d surface some related apps so that you can extend your appreciation and give them some love on your My Yahoo! page.
- GleeFan.com
- “One Tree Hill” Blog
- “How I Met Your Mother” Source
- “American Idol” (Coverage from EW.com)
- “Weeds” (Showtime Online)
- “Big Bang Theory” (official site updates)
For all we know, some of these shows may not be around in a year. Then again – to borrow some of that can-do spirit from “Glee” — they may get renewed because of strong fan support.
