Note To Self.

Hi everyone!

Ever get a great idea while you’re in the middle of doing something else? Or jot down a quick note and then misplace it?

This happens to me all the time. I love to multi-task, but I sometimes lose track of the little details. Lucky for me (and you if you need it!), My Yahoo! just released the Note to Self module.

Note to Self lets you jot down whatever you need to remember. It’s for the lyrics to a song that you heard, the name of that new restaurant or a gift idea for your sister. The best part is that it can sit right at the top of your page – easy to access and easy to read.

Add the module now and all you have to do is type! Voila – continue to multi-task knowing that you’ll never forget another thing.

This is a cool addition… but I use the Yahoo Notepad feature all the time (both the widget and through my html e-mail access) and I think this module would be even better if when you click in the text area there was an “Open” button that would allow you to access saved notes, and that the “Save” button would let you specify which folder to save to
Thanks!

Notepad loses notes if you sign out and go to look for them the next day… what’s the use.

I’m surprised there’s only one commenter asking where da heck their note went. For the uninitiated this module must be rather perplexing and probably written off as “I must be doing something wrong.”

The note created is saved at Yahoo! Notepad in the “Unfiled” folder and, yes, next time you return to your My Yahoo! page there will be no notes to see in this module. Why these points weren’t made in this blog post is bewildering.

This module is simply a means to create notes but not to recall them. An interesting perspective on usability. I would wager that 90% of the people trying this are scratching their heads over this.

A module similar to the Yahoo Notepad widget would be much more usable and intuitive.

Would be helpful if:
Note to self could be placed on ALL pages and all notes show up on all pages.
I currently have 7 pages, broken down by Sports, news, etc. And I would like to put a Notes to Self on each page. If I type a note on the Sports Page, I don’t see that note on the Finance page.

The “Note to Self” is an excellent idea, I use notepad to jot down notes that I need to keep but the Note to self feature is great because it’s there all the time to remind you of important reminders.

What about the multi tabs? It was so much easier to click a tab than to open a new window. I also prefer to see when I have new mail. So far, the “refresh” doesn’t update. (ie. Lose the deleted email from the home page). Other than that, I like it. (If you get rid of the Ad).

The note disappears when I leave. There’s no point to this. Its always a blank note when I return. Where do all my notes go??

Joe B.: Actually, the module is designed to recall the notes you saved. We’ve added some fixes to improve performance, so when you save a note, it should appear every time you return to My Yahoo!

i really like the module, but i cannot find a way to discard a note after i’ve saved it — when it is no longer applicable. for example, if i make a note to do something in the next few days, the reminder will then never go away. help please, suzanne

Why are changes to me “Note to Self” module not saving? (Yes, I’m clicking on the “save” button!) I’ve tried time delays, text pasting, reloading, etc. and nothing seems to make a consistent change. Please help.
