Flickr has arrived! (Part 1)

Hi there My Yahoo! photo fanatics,

A few months ago, I created a Flickr account so I could share my photos with family and friends. Now, with the new Flickr module, I start my day with pictures of my nephew when I open my My Yahoo! page. :-)

I hope you’re as excited as I am about this new Flickr module. In order to see your photos, be sure to first set up a free Flickr account. Once you’ve done this, the Flickr module will stream your photos right onto your page. Then, click on any thumbnail image to view as a larger photo and even as a slideshow!

This module is jam-packed with cool features such as “Everyone’s Photos,” “Interestingness,” and a Flickr activity tracker. Check back here on the blog for Part 2 to get more information and tips on how to get the most out of the Flickr module. In the meantime get those Flickr accounts uploaded with photos!

I love the MyYahoo’s image-only display mode (which also allows you to choose the number of items to display). And I love to see the uploads/faves from my contacts or comments/groups of my interest in separate modules (via different RSS feeds). In this way, I could spread those modules on one page, and easily keep updated with my friends without any extra click. :)
Here are some snapshots I made:

i tried this, a nice feature, but took it off- it impacts page load time a great deal. (for me, anyway.)

Re Flickr. This was my first time looking at it and what do I get? YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED IN IN THE PAST 4 HOURS. IF I ONLY HAVE TO SIGN INTO YAHOO ONCE A DAY THEN WHY DO I HAVE TO SIGN INTO THIS FLICKR STUFF! I AM SICK AND TIRED OF LOGIN AND SIGN INS FOR NO REAL SECURITY REASON

Hi C Whisler,

That’s a one-time authentication that occurs when you first add the module. Once you input your information, you should be able to access your Flickr account by signing into My Yahoo!. Thanks for your comment!

I thought Yahoo says never to give our password to anyone? I am already signed in – why do I have to sign in using my password on Flikr? How do we know it’s safe? I don’t feel comfortable giving out my password – even if it is just “once”. Sorry, but I won’t use the service until it comes up with another way to log-in.
Thanks,
Sue
