Hi everyone,

Every day, we try to create the best possible My Yahoo! experience for you. Throughout the course of the “beta” phase for the new My Yahoo!, we read your constructive feedback on how to improve the product. Much of your feedback has been related to your ability to control your page. As a result, we are changing and evolving our approach to advertising on My Yahoo!.

Less Intrusive Advertising
If you use the new version, the current advertising unit that you are accustomed to seeing on your page has been removed. We feel that this will enable you to better control the layout of content on your page. As we continue to improve the product, we will be examining alternative ways to find the right balance between advertising and the best possible My Yahoo! user experience.

Retiring the Original My Yahoo!
In addition, we want to let you know that on July 14th we will be retiring the original My Yahoo! and moving everyone into the new version. At that point, access to the original My Yahoo! will no longer be enabled. The new version of My Yahoo! was built for you and similar to our recent advertising change, we will remain committed to improving the product based on your feedback.

If you haven’t had time to explore the new My Yahoo! yet, we invite you to check out these tips we created to help get you started and make this transition as easy as possible for people who are accustomed to the original My Yahoo!.

Enjoy the new space!

Good job overall! BUT, there were features in the “old” My Yahoo that are not present in the new one that I am REALLY missing:

1) More than 10 entries in a module.
2) Images with every headline & not just with the first.

I hope development hasn’t completely ceased.

congratulations on out of beta.
advertising is good…one liners vs. blocks? no pop ins…I would totally drop my yahoo if random ads popped into the page, even hover-over expanding pops.

I have AT&T Yahoo DSL- my version of the page still has the big left column ad. When will this one go away?

One of the few complaints that I had about the new My Yahoo was the huge block of advertising. With that gone the page is perfect!I think Yahoo is doing a good job. With the removal of the advertising it shows that they are listening.

Great not having the ad block-makes page even more useful not having it take up valuable space.

I like the new yahoo but one problem, home page is to wide it extends pass the right side of my moniter there should be a way to make it fit to regfular size.

Another thing…an option for the layout would be two equally sized columns rather than the ones that you have currently would be welcomed. You could also use a one column layout to take up the width of the page, that would be especially helpful for TV Listings, Movie Listings, really anything that has a calendar like format.

Any chance I could move that big search box to the bottom, like I did with the old My Yahoo? My browser already has a built-in search box; I don’t need another one taking up vertical space.

Additional features in the “old” my yahoo that are not present:

1) Charts in Market summary
2) Ability to add market index from different exchanges not just DJIA, nasdaq and S&P.

i think this is a big mistake.

When will the stock market summary (Dow/Nasdaq/S&P indices) be real time vs. delayed by 10 minutes? I’m surprised the new version would be delayed when the old version was not… Otherwise, the new MyYahoo keeps getting beter. Thanks.

I use beta since when I first heard it and on my machines, it is not a problem but… people should really have a choice to use “Classic” original My.yahoo
Why don’t you feature freeze it and keep for people who wants to keep using that light version?

Well I knew that it would happen sooner than later. It is not that I don’t like change it is just that being the person of habit that my Mother raised me to be, it is just really difficult to make any sort of conversions. But I will work with what you and the good Lord has given to me and try not to complain, (too much.) Thank you for being there as long as you have been.

Thank God that huge pig of an ad is finally gone. Now all we need are more themes, more control over the width of columns and a much better PA (choice of the number of tabs is essential). Also, is the Suggestions area closed for good? I can’t seem to find it.

Is there a way to customize the new My Yahoo like there was with the old My Yahoo? Are those colors the only ones available? I think there should be a
choice as there is now, so a person can still use the old My Yahoo! so at least the user still has a choice.

Hi

Long time fan of MyYahoo and have been “really trying” to enjoy the new framework but still a few things are bothering me.

1- ability to change font color
2- ability to change theme colors

Any chance we will be seeing these features come back?

The new homepage is HUGE. I HATE IT!!! Can we resize it some how? I hate having to use the full screen on my browser. With my normal browser size I have to use the horizontal scroll to see all the content on the new Yahoopage. Most websites I visit resize to the browser window…why can’t you guys? Surely that’s not beyond your abilities. I liked the old one much better! Loads so dang slow, too.
Color me unimpressed.

I don’t mind it, it just doesn’t fit my monitor screen, and second the only way to remove things from the page is to “delete” them. Why can’t they just be removed like they can be added. I don’t need alot of stuff in the “personal Assistance” Area, I don’t deal with H. Scopes, Lottery or music. I don’t mind the Mail, weather, etc but you should still be able to remove like you can add. Also if I don’t want long boxes then they should be able to be shortened.

Otherwise not bad, But I wouldn’t give it a 10 on a scale more like a 5/6

Echoing what Nathan listed above, “Market Summary” in old page was a lot better. I had customized to show several graphs and prices (DJ, NASD, SP500, and Wilshire). Being a big finance user, this is a pretty limiting change for me

Count me among the many who do not care for the “new” myyahoo. I don’t mind the old ads so much and really need the ability to have a wider column for things like my comics and tv listings. I also need the charts for the Dow, etc. as well as stock preferences. I also liked my old background and colors.

And… echoing the thoughts of many of us – please don’t sell us out to Microsoft!!!

I preferred the old version but will get used to the new one. The one thing that is a BIG problem for me is that the old version displayed perfectly on my WI-FI PDA with an Opera browser, and the new version is not supported. So no My Yahoo while traveling. I will miss that. Please support Opera with the new version.

Honestly, I liked my old layout. I paste stock quotes into excel a few times a day. Now this function does not work with the new layout. This is a big inconvenience to me! I depended on yahoo for this wonderful feature, now I don’t know what to do. I don’t like being forced to look for another site to perform this, since I can’t make the new format work. Even though there may be some added value to others, there seems to be plenty of people who prefer the classic original format,… Why not offer both?!!! Please help us out here! :o ) I really wish I could continue to use Yahoo.

What happened to the Evite module?
What happened to setting custom colors for the layout? I’m sorry but I used to use a darkened version of Olive, and now everything is super obnoxiously bright. It looks like kids on myspace designed most of the layouts.

Please, tell me there is still a way to switch back to classic?

Stocks are a problem now.
The original My Yahoo! market summary was up to the minute for Dow, NASDAQ and S&P every time you reloaded the page. The new MY is way behind. You have to click through to an individual index’s page for the latest.

It’s like New Coke leaving an aftertaste?

Stock modules can’t be edited?

When I click on the “gear” icon to “Edit Module Preferences” for Market Summary or Portfolios, I get a panel allowing me to share the module with the canned message, “I have this module on My Yahoo! and thought you might like it, too.” I do not get an opportunity to actually edit preferences or content of the module.

This must be a bug.
Ooooh, look, I found a bug in my New Coke.

I like the new my Yahoo, but I just recently was able to afford to switch to broadband. It comes in through a dish. I live in a rural area and most people I know have dial up around here on very old, analog phone lines. No fiber – optic here! I could not load Beta *anything* on dial up. I take it people who are stuck with dial up are just being tossed by the wayside? We were lucky to get 26.6 Kbps on a GOOD day.

Adam,

Please offer your customers the option of using the original version of MyYahoo. This can be accomplished by adding a “classic view” or “old school” version to your Beta format selections.

I have been a loyal Yahoo customer since it’s existance. Please consider this suggestion strongly, as I am considering switching from using Yahoo as my Homepage.

I think it’s the trend on all commercial pages: They make it hard to view it except on full screen…so they can expose you to the maximum number of ads or messages possible. SPRINT did the same when they “updated” their page. The sign-in is all the way to the right and if you don’t use full screen you have to scroll to the right – before the sign-in was at the left edge, so no matter what size your browser was set, the sign-in window was right there, no need for horizontal scrolling.
Oh! well it’s free they say :-(

I import data from my yahoo stock portfolio to Excel using Excel’s import tool. In the old version of Yahoo, Excel would highlight the table containing my portfolio and the table would be imported to my spreadsheet as shown in Yahoo. In the new version the table is highlighted as before but along with the portfolio data I also get a lot of extraneous text that does not show on the yahoo page. The table I want is buried in all this. I am sure I am not the only one doing this. Why did this get changed?

The old version would mark a stock symbol with an asterisk when the stock had a news item posted within the past 24 hours. The new version does not do that; it has annoying white cartoon boxes next to the symbols. Now I have to click each symbol to determine if a news item has been recently posted (or otherwise hold my cursor over the white cartoon boxes and wait for the recent news to load!) and this is very inefficient and time consuming. Please mark the symbols again when a recent news item is posted so I can hone in on it!!!!

Looks nice, but when using Firefox and returning to the home page after having navigated off the page to read and article or whatever, it always snaps to the top of the page. It doesn’t matter how far down the home page you’ve scrolled, when you navigate back to the home page, it always starts you back up at the top. Very irritating – I don’t use Yahoo much anymore because of this.

To add your Yahoo! Mail Preview, click “Add Content” > “My Yahoo! Essentials” > “Yahoo! Mail Preview” > “I’m Done”.

To delete a tab, click on the tab name of the tab you would like to delete. An “x” will appear next to the tab name. Click the “x” to delete.
