Hungry for 60 hot dogs?

I remember many different 4th of July traditions…fireworks, grilling, going to the beach, and toasting marshmallows just to name a few. One that I’ve become accustomed to throughout the last few years is the annual Nathan’s July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest. Now, I’m not one to sit and chow down 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes, but there’s something so intriguing about the sport that over 1.8 million people tuned into watch the event in 2007!

After realizing that there’s an entire sport behind the hot dog venue on July 4th, I wanted to learn a little more about its history and find other competitive eating records. I was able to dig up a module called EatFeats. It’s actually quite interesting as you get the insider pass to the world of competitive eating with news, an events calendar, and my favorite, a database of all past contests and results you can add to your My Yahoo! page. Makes me hungry just thinking about it! :)

Tune into the blog later this week for grilling recipes and tips on preparing the perfect 4th of July meal.

Enjoy!

Any golfers out there? Well, I don’t think you need to be a big-time fan to get pumped that the best golfer in the world is back on the course!

Tiger Woods has finally returned to the tour after being sidelined from knee surgery for the last four weeks, and you can be sure I will be following this weekend’s action with My Yahoo!.

I have even dedicated an entire page to keep up with Tiger’s comeback. My go-to news source is the Yahoo! Sports Golf News module. Complete with news updates, on-course interviews, and top notch analysis, this module is just like walking alongside the pros!

I’ve also stocked my page with some other great golf modules including:
- PGA.com: Latest Headlines
- Foxsports.com News for Golf
- BogeyLounge (How can you not love a module called “Bogeylounge?”)

Will Tiger win in heroic fashion? Make sure to tune in with your My Yahoo! page acting as the perfect caddy for this weekend’s tournament!

Big Brown’s Triple Crown?

Well folks, it’s been 30 years since the last Triple Crown victory in the sport of horse racing. I don’t typically watch the big races, but how could I miss seeing history like this?

I’ve been reading about history of the Belmont Stakes, and it’s actually quite interesting. This “Third Jewel” of the Triple Crown, as they call it, marks the 140th year of the race. Make sure to tune in this Saturday, June 7th, on ABC at 5pm ET.

With the mounting anticipation of a three-decade dry spell about to broken, the 2008 Belmont Stakes is certainly something to keep track of, and what better way than with your My Yahoo! page. Stay ahead of the pack with these two great modules.

See you at the races!

With all the great modules to choose from in My Yahoo!, there’s bound to be one that you go to first thing in the morning. Maybe it’s a news source that keeps you in the know, or maybe it’s more of a guilty pleasure that gets your day off to the perfect start.

We want to know about your favorite module…
- What is it?
- What does it do for you?
- How long have you had it on your page?
- Do you share your favorite module with friends?

For me, the Golf News module from Yahoo! Sports gets me into the swing of things every morning. I added the module a few weeks ago and always find myself checking in for the latest updates and tips on how to improve my game. Especially with The Masters next weekend and a “Tiger” on the prowl, this module is the perfect hole-in-one for me.

Tell us what your favorite is by commenting on this blog post!
