For example, a few months ago I decided to look for a new apartment in San Francisco. It’s no easy task to find a good, cheap apartment in the city; places rent quickly so you have to move fast.

Like any respectable geek I turned to craigslist, which lets you search by size, price and neighborhood. <a href="http://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/apa/sfc?query=&minAsk=&maxAsk=2000&bedrooms=1&neighborhood=21" target=”_blank">Here’s a search for one bedroom apartments under $2,000 a month in the “Noe Valley” neighborhood. Simple, right?

But the real magic is that you can add your search to your My Yahoo! page. That way, you’ll get an up-to-the-minute list of the new apartment listings (or whatever else you’re searching for). Here’s how:

1. Run a search on craigslist for the type of apartment you’re looking for.
2. Find the RSS icon at the bottom of the page and copy the link.
3. Head back to My Yahoo!, click “Personalize this Page,” “Add RSS Feed,” and paste in the URL from step 2. Click “Add.”

Once the hamsters finish running you’ll see a new module on your page containing the results of your search. When you finally find your new dream home, simply delete away.

Enjoy!

Have you ever added a module and said, “This is so cool.”?

You aren’t alone. One of the fun things about working on My Yahoo! is that we get to hear it and say it a lot. We thought we’d pass along two of our favorites…

craigslist Search
Never again will you miss out on a hot Craigslist item. Track that beach rental on your page. It will refresh throughout the day so you don’t miss a thing. To try this from a craigslist results page, click the RSS link at the bottom of the page. Copy the URL from the address bar, and paste it into My Yahoo! (Personalize this page > Add RSS feed > Add).

flickr Photos
Enjoy great photo streams on your page. We especially like Interesting Images and Flickr’s 100 Best. From the “Personalize this page” menu, click “add modules” and then type “flickr” in the search box.

That’s a few to get you started. We’ll be back with more.
